Safe Harbor provides free, confidential, twenty-four hour service to survivors of domestic, family, and dating violence in St. Tammany and Washi on parishes. Established in 1991, our domestic violence program is the only one in St. Tammany Parish that provides shelter exclusively to survivors who are rendered homeless because of abuse. Domestic violence is a crime that plagues our society and causes permanent emotional scars. Without appropriate intervention, it increases in frequency and severity over time. Domestic violence shatters lives, destroys families, and devastates communities. It will take the entire community working together to end domestic violence. We are asking you to consider a sponsorship for Safe Harbor's annual signature fundraiser. With your help the funds raised at the gala will assist us in providing quality direct services, safety planning, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, and comprehensive children's services. Last year Safe Harbor assisted 683 survivors. We provided shelter to 36 women and 47 children, (who stayed an average of 47 days), answered 3,213 crisis calls, and assisted in the preparation of 57 Petitions for Protective Orders" Funds from the 2016 ReaI Men of St. Tammany Gala allowed Safe Harbor to continue operations and to provide needed assistance to survivors. The 2017 Real Men of St. T any Gala gives us all the opportunity to enjoy great survivors to stay while establishing violence-free homes. We hope you will consider our request and join us in helping domestic, family, and dating violence survivors in our community.
