Job Description
General Description
This position perform financial tasks associated with the programs of the organization. Performs selected human resource tasks associated with employee hiring and separation. Performs bank deposits as necessitated by program’s fees for service and donations.   Assists in budget preparation and monthly monitoring and analysis of expenditures; performs monthly bank reconciliation.   Performs accounts receivables and payables as well as assisting in grant writing when needed.  Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director or designee.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processes applicant and new hire documentation inclusive of applicant criminal and driving record checks, payroll preparation, completion of required federal and state tax forms and other forms as indicated.
  • Utilizes accounting software to perform required tasks associated with vendor payment;
Utilizes third party payroll system in conjunction with Executive Director to perform required payroll;
  • Oversees and performs filing of federal and state forms required of the organization on a scheduled basis.
  • Works with accounting firms in tax preparation, financial audits and reviews as required;
  • Performs monthly and quarterly tasks associated with operational workload and financial monitoring citing unusual findings and trends to Director’s attention;
  • Interfaces with other areas of the organization as needed for special projects and initiatives requiring team approaches;
  • Performs accounts payable and receivable functions as required;
  • Assists in grant writing when requested;
Skills and Knowledge
  • Demonstrates mathematical ability in functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division;
  • Demonstrates ability to operate calculators;
  • Demonstrates expertise in utilizing computers and use of  Word and Excel; Power Point is preferred;
  • Demonstrates expertise in use of QuickBooks;
  • Maintains confidentiality of  financial data as well as donor information;
  • Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with others;
  • College Degree preferred;
  • 4-6 years experience in accounting;
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Previous experience of QuickBooks required;
  • Bookkeepers need not apply
