He had been serving the Jacksonville (FL) Civic Council as its first Executive Director. In addition\, Don served as transition staff director for newly-elected Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown during June and July of 2011\, and subsequently as an executive-on-loan to Mayor Brown to redesign the economic development delivery system for downtown Jacksonville and the consolidated City of Jacksonville/Duval County government. Don has a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a Master of City Planning degree from Harvard University in Cambridge.
