NEW ORLEANS – (April 17, 2020) – In a continued effort to support communities across Southeast Louisiana in the fight against COVID-19, Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit  has committed a $100,000 contribution and $45,000 in gas cards to Second Harvest Food Bank.  This is part of a larger overall donation – totaling $350,000 in cash and $110,000 in gas cards - the company recently made to several charitable organizations in the state.
“It is a very trying time for many Louisiana families,” said Leah Brown, Public Affairs Manager for Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. “We’re proud to once again partner with Second Harvest and the other nonprofits in an effort to ease the financial burdens that many are facing. Through this donation and the amazing work of our partners, we hope to help those in the community who are most in need.”
Investing in the areas where Chevron operates is one of the company’s core values. Second Harvest will use the donations to help at-risk individuals and families in Orleans, Jefferson, Lafayette, Plaquemines, Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
“We are beyond thankful for Chevron’s consistent generosity to Southeast Louisiana and its residents,” said Natalie Jayroe, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “I’m so appreciative of Chevron’s continuous support of our organization. This donation will have a tremendous positive impact on our members.”
Chevron has a long history of supporting Second Harvest Food Bank and other local charities.  Other organizations benefiting from the donations are the Bayou Community Foundation, Northshore Community Foundation, Northshore Food Bank, Son of Saint, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Louisiana, and Safe Harbor.
