The St. Tammany Commission on Families proudly announces the Mental Health Care Fair scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Madisonville Library. This event promises to be an invaluable resource for individuals seeking mental health support and information. The Mental Health Care Fair will feature an impressive lineup of over 24 organizations offering various mental health care services, all conveniently gathered under one roof. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact directly with representatives from these organizations and gain insight into the diverse range of mental health resources available within the community. In addition to the informational booths, the fair will include small group sessions designed to provide in-depth information on specific mental health topics. These sessions offer attendees the chance to engage with experts in a more intimate setting, fostering meaningful conversations and learning experiences. One of the highlights of the event will be the presentation titled "Hope for the Opioid Crisis," scheduled for 10:30 am. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about NarCan and its role in combating the opioid crisis, offering hope and support to individuals and families affected by addiction. At 11:30 am, a panel of Mental Health Professionals will lead a Q&A session, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insights into various mental health issues. A particularly eye-opening session, "Hidden in Plain Sight," will take place at 12:30 pm. Attendees will be shocked to learn about the presence of drugs in seemingly innocuous locations such as gas stations and vape shops, highlighting the importance of awareness and vigilance in combating substance abuse. Wrapping up the event at 1:30 pm, professionals will share essential insights on how to handle mental health emergencies, equipping attendees with valuable knowledge and resources to support themselves and others in times of crisis. The Mental Health Care Fair is open to all members of the community, and there is no fee to participate. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the wealth of mental health resources available in the community and to engage with experts in the field.
