The Great American Banana Split Celebration
Proceeds to benefit Operation We Care
American Legion Post 16 in Covington is hosting the Great American Banana Split Celebration on Friday, August 27 from 1 - 3 pm and 6 - 8 pm. Proceeds to support Operation We Care, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to our troops deployed in war zones.
The event will be held in our Legion hall at 2031 Ronald Reagan Highway. It will celebrate the 117th anniversary of the creation of the banana split. Ice cream is being donated by Blue Bell and donations of items for door prizes are being requested. The cost of the banana splits are $8 for adults and $5 for children. A display on the history of the banana split will be available for viewing.
We are constantly looking for creative ways to recruit members to the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion auxiliary to assist us in our mission of helping veterans, their families and the community. Partnerships with various organizations, such as the Boy Scouts, Veterans' Court and West 30's, are being developed to increase our exposure in the community. We hope you'll visit our facility to see what we have to offer for hall rentals, join us for a fun family event and learn more about our organization's involvement in our community.
