Dr. Katie Queen is a pediatrician at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health rural clinic in Bogalusa, Louisiana. A 2009 graduate of LSU School of Medicine New Orleans and 2012 LSU Pediatrics Residency New Orleans in 2012, she recently earned her board certification in Obesity Medicine and directs a pediatric multidisciplinary weight management clinic at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge where she takes care of the most severe cases of pediatric obesity in our state. She co-leads the Louisiana state chapter committee on obesity and nutrition and serves on the payer and policy working group for the Louisiana Obesity and Diabetes Commission. She is passionate about community connection and serves on many community wellness committees and is a board member of the Covington Community Garden. Dr. Queen is a current participant in the Food Insecurity ECHO, a quality improvement project where she has been learning best practices in food insecurity screening and referral. She is also working with both local and Louisiana state policy makers on improving access to healthy food for children in Louisiana.
Ginger Kunkle is development director at the Northshore Food Bank. She is an MBA graduate and nonprofit professional with over twelve years of nonprofit experience. Ginger has served in a variety of capacities during her seven years at Northshore Food Bank, most recently being named Development Director in August. During her time with the food bank, she has developed a passion for providing access to increasingly nutritious foods and educating the community on what food donations food insecure individuals and families need most. As a result of this passion, Ginger recently earned her certificate in nutrition coaching from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
