COVINGTON, LA — St. Tammany, we have a lot to smile about—and a lot of people to thank. Our Empower Orthodontics office in Covington continues to grow, and every family who trusts us and every neighbor who recommends us helps make that possible. Across our practice so far in 2026, Empower Orthodontics has started approximately $116,000 in free orthodontic treatment for local children through America Smiles. That figure represents complete treatment plans begun this year, with care continuing in the years ahead.

Dr. Timothy “Dr. Tim” Poyadou has been doing this work since 2015. America Smiles helps children in foster care and children who have lost a parent in service, including military members, firefighters, and law enforcement officers. Caring for children in our community is a responsibility we are grateful to share.

A place in the Empower family

Over roughly two years of regular visits, we get to know each child—their personality, their interests, and the things that matter to them. We share laughs, celebrate progress, and build relationships with the people caring for them. They become part of our Empower family. We want every child to know that when they walk through our door, familiar faces are happy to see them and ready to help.

America Smiles care is completely free and generally includes approximately two years of active braces treatment, followed by a year of retention follow-up, sometimes longer according to the child’s needs. Retainers help maintain the result after braces come off. We plan to keep showing up through that next chapter, too. Confetti is optional; follow-through is part of the commitment.

We also care for children through Fostering Hope Louisiana, which helps foster youth access orthodontic treatment. To the caregivers, advocates, and community partners supporting these children: thank you for everything you bring to their lives.

Rooted in St. Tammany—and finding our spot in the bleachers

Our Covington office received 2026 Silver Best Orthodontics recognition in Best of St. Tammany, and we are grateful for the encouragement. Dr. Tim also recently attended his first St. Paul’s football game for homecoming. An orthodontist in the bleachers? You could say he appreciates a good formation.
