About Northshore Food Bank
Northshore Food Bank is dedicated to strengthening our community by addressing food insecurity and creating innovative nutrition programs that support our mission. Our Resale Shop program plays a critical role in generating revenue, engaging volunteers, building community partnerships, and supporting the families we serve. We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee and expand this growing program.
Position Summary
Northshore Food Bank is seeking a strategic, hands-on retail leader to oversee and grow its resale programs, which generate critical revenue to support the organization’s mission of addressing food insecurity across the Northshore. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management and is ideal for someone with a strong retail background, nonprofit passion, and entrepreneurial mindset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Retail Operations & Program Leadership
- Lead resale store operations to achieve revenue, profitability, customer experience, and mission-impact goals.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, merchandising standards, and best practices.
- Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, analyze sales trends, and prepare monthly sales and expense reports.
- Oversee cash management, deposits, POS systems, donation tracking, store audits, and reporting functions.
- Participate in strategic planning and future resale program development.
Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and execute marketing strategies that increase sales, donor engagement, and community awareness.
- Manage email, SMS, social media, seasonal promotions, merchandising plans, and store layout initiatives.
- Monitor retail and thrift industry trends to support competitive pricing, positioning, and growth opportunities.
- Build relationships with community organizations, businesses, and partner agencies.
Donation Acquisition & Revenue Growth
- Develop strategies to secure high-quality donated merchandise and expand donation collection networks.
- Build partnerships with retailers, businesses, churches, estate representatives, storage facilities, and community organizations.
- Lead donation drives, furniture pickups, bulk acquisitions, and special donation opportunities.
- Maintain strong donor relationships through engagement, follow-up communication, and stewardship.
Team Leadership & Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment.
- Ensure adequate staffing, effective communication, and training to support operational goals.
- Work with volunteer and community engagement teams to maximize volunteer participation and impact.
Community Engagement
- Serve as an ambassador for Northshore Food Bank and promote positive relationships with shoppers, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Resolve customer and donor concerns professionally and support events, outreach initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 10+ years of retail management experience, with 5+ years of supervisory/ leadership experience.
- Proven success managing operations, budgets, and sales performance.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead diverse teams.
- Experience delivering exceptional customer service.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit retail, thrift, consignment, resale, or social enterprise environments.
- Marketing, fundraising, donor relations, or business development experience.
- Experience managing volunteers and community partnerships.
- Knowledge of retail inventory management, merchandising, and POS systems.
